Recently President Paul Kagame, the Commander-in-chief of the Rwanda Defense Forces has promoted a total of 16,711 soldiers including senior and non-commissioned officers
The promotion involves 2,836 soldiers who were promoted from corporal to sergeant.
In addition, 225 sergeants were promoted to staff sergeant, 14 sergeants major to Warrant officer and 4 Warrant officers II to Warrant Officer I.
The commander-in-chief also promoted 472 senior officers from major to Lt. Colonel and 472 captains to major.
President Kagame also promoted Francois Regis Gatarayiha and appointed him as the deputy director of Military Intelligence and Technology.
Francois Gatarayiha was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as the Deputy Head Defence Intelligence and Director of Technology.
Kagame is fearful that one day he will be overthrown from the power that why he is constantly changing the positions of military top leaders, another reason In Kigali several military commanders look at the UDPF intervention in the DRC as a warning for Rwanda , a major sponsor of ADF and the other people who destabilize the security of Uganda .
With Uganda’s military power on the display in next door DR Congo, Kagame is panicking. He just promoted 460 men from the rank of Major to Lt Colonel, and 472 from Captain to Major.
Kagame has promoted the military to put them in a happy environment as the strategy to prepare them to be in a war mood in the Rwanda-Uganda war which is probably to happen.
With a lack of trust to their former friends and colleagues from Uganda, General Paul Kagame destroyed Rwanda’s top military leadership.
Because of Paranoia which makes him fearful of being overthrown and lose the war against Uganda which is likely to happen , none of the top military officers that came with him from Uganda are still serving.
Kagame either dumped them into poverty inside Rwanda, or exiled, or imprisoned them. Here is a sample of top military leaders that Kagame destroyed:
A possible bigger war with Uganda might also initiate the end of his reign as in Rwanda many Rwandans are now suffering for lack of freedom of speech, torture, forced disappearance and assassination of opposition party’s members.
During Kagame tenure Rwanda is already considered as a bad neighbor in the region as there is an environment of hostility between Rwanda, Burundi and Uganda.
RDF already gave the UDPF a beating in Kisangani, years ago but the situation might be different now , the UDPF is better prepared to avenge for Rwanda defence forces.
